Last week I predicted that 300 would gross 68.3 mil in its opening weekend. This morning I found out that it actually surpassed that (70 mil). A dear friend of mine co-stars in the movie, so I'm thrilled for him (and, of course, everyone in the cast & crew) that it did so well.

Well I have to admit David. You're question back to me has got me thinking. I suppose that from a pure myth perspective you can't fault it. All the classic archetypes to make Joseph Campbell proud. But from a filmmakers perspective there was no story to hang it on. Guy gets challenged. He meets challenge. thanks for your ten bucks. k bye.

Anyway, I just felt the whole thing was about a bunch of fancy shots strung together like a music video.

But I am glad for your friend Kelly. He should make some extra residual bucks I suppose. Regardless of whether anyone thinks it's good or bad it always nice to have a hit.

the story was mythic, it resonated with me, it was relevent-- had a lot to say about the world today. there some were terrific performances, iconic and magnificent images...

if i didn't see dawn of the dead i would have given more praise to frank miller (and ridley scott) than zack snyder, but i'll be watching out for his next one.

totally worth ten bucks.
