hey dave. i just saw this last night and i have to say that i enjoyed it. i thought the elements you didn't like gave it personality and i found them amusing. i also thought the writers did a great job of tying far too many storylines together. i was impressed by the way they'd touch on one story element, then whisk you right into another before it got stale. yeah, it was too long, and tobey maguire is starting to look like k.d. lang (and sometimes in this movie like garth brooks' alter-ego chris gaines), but, all in all, a fun flick.
